Could be. These seem to be failing from time to time according to other threads. I have a few extreme pro cards lying around - @matrin what would be the procedure to swapping one preventatively?
I am sorry for slower responses - Zdenek and I work 16 hours a day on getting Minis out. But I will reply to this one as there is some urgency in it…
The SD cards are the most common issue. In mk1s we used MediaRange brand of SD cards. The issues with them were not uncommon. As we did not anticipate that, mk1 has the SD card mounted deep inside on the display board. With mk2 we gradually switch over to Verbatim which proved to be much better choice. Number is issues went down. But still, occasionally, even those fail. Our next step was to make the card easier to reach. For early mk2, bottom panel needs to be removed to reach the card. And as of 2025 mk2s are shipped with a SD card slot on the side of the body - so it can be reached easily. All Minis have the same slot.
@Augenadler do you have mk1 or mk2? From the video I assume it is mk1, but just to be sure…
SD cards are driving us crazy once more these days - partly, the delay on shipping Minis is caused by quite some increase in prices and availability of the SD cards. I guess it follows prices of RAM and SSDs…
I have the MKI, Serial 0000 We’ve had a longer conversation in 2020 bc some software issues and the device not being plane on a straight. Since then, I used it extensively for a year, but it collected dust over a fe years until I resurrected it a few month ago.
So, it is a MKI for sure. I’m not afraid of opening it, if you say that the SD is the issue, I’ll replace it.
Or I’ll send it to you and you transform this sucker into a MKII?
Regarding RAM an Storage prices: This is nuts, we had it like 15 years ago, but not to this magnitude. I ordered 1.5TB DDR5 and 10x8TB U2 SSDs for a customer - the prices have nearly tripled from order to delivery.
I’m not in a hurry, so take your time. I really like the idea of the mini, but not the mini-TRS for MIDI. But sacrifices have to be made sometimes, I guess.
Update: I somehow, with persistence, patience and absolute chaos involved, managed to resurrect it. But the sprites or text are not displayed correctly, like if the rendering-process is drugged.
This is a good indicator. That means that the SD card can be access now. The missing glyphs and fonts are caused by missing or broken files on the SD card. The default files can be restored either with the Factory reset function on the website or copied over to the SD card using the zip file from Downloads.
If you copy files on the SD card and it still behaves weird, try to format the card (FAT32) or use different card.
