**Firmware version 4.1.3 has just been released.**

The [app.electra.one](https://app.electra.one/) web application now provides an option to update the mk2 and mini controllers to version 4.1.3.

The update brings several important fixes. It is strongly recommended to update your controllers.

**V4.1.3 CHANGE LOG**

- Improved knob reading to prevent dead zones in tight value-range conversions.

- Adjusted knobs to span their full value range over ~270 degrees. Pots with narrow ranges and pots set to the encoder mode, stay as they were.

- Forced to use 512 bytes USB transfers for HS USB Interface on Teensy 4.x.

- Fixed random freezes while using VCV Rack.

- _mk2_ Fixed graphic glitches on the Performance page.

- _mk2_ Corrected labels on Reboot and Sleep buttons on the Menu page. They were swapped.

- _Mini_ Adjusted screen gamma curves to improve the brightness of darker colours.

- _Mini_ Resolved an issue where the context buttons were overwritten by the preset buttons.

- _Mini_ Improved the visual style of all control types. Added value to the dials.

- _Mini_ Added support for XY pad.

- _Mini_ Added a Back button to the System page.

- _Mini_ Made it possible to change the value of all List controls by pressing the knob.

- _Mini_ Fixed preset slot assignments in banks 2 - 5.

I would like to say thank you to all of you for reporting issues and sharing ideas. I listened carefully and tried to resolve as many of them as I could. Issues reported, but not included in this release, will be worked on starting tomorrow (@Mint-Gecko @klaustrophil)

For now, it was important to make sure there are no big defects. I did not work on any of the features proposed here on the forum. Again, they are on my list and I will start thinking about them or working on them from now on.

The 4.1.3 is a big step for me. It is the first truly cross-device firmware. It may happen that some of the mk2 functionality could be affected. mk2 users, if you notice anything strange, let me know.

The firmware update comes together with the web application update. There are no big changes any more. Info on the web editor update will be provided in a separate post.

@martin After several attempts I can’t get past this point in the update. Note I’m running v1.0. Thanks

restart the bootloader, open the disk mode and try remove the older fw files. You can just delete them, they are available online. When removed, restart the controller to the bootloader again.

I have deleted the two oldest (with same result), should I delete 4.1.2 as well?

yup, do that. maybe, remove even the 4.1.3. The restart the controller, then restart to the bootloader and copy fresh 4.1.3 there.

No joy. Deleted all versions from the boot folder. Rentered bootloader and placed 4.1.3.src into boot folder. Restarted. Clicked on blue icon. No update progress after 5 minutes. Restarted. Replaced 4.1.3 with 4.1.2. It appeared to install without a problem, but then the E1 went blank and won’t power back on.

There’s there the controller name in the filename 😉 But I will make a separate page for each controller.

Do not worry. It can be fixed.

that means, when you keep the right-bottom button pressed, while connecting the cable, the bootloader does not start? Do I understand that correctly?

I just tried what you did and it recovered no problem. ie.

1. flashed wrong image (mini instead mk2)
2. electra went blank (cos it cannot talk to diffeent LCD)
3. started booloader uploaded mk2 firmware, updated
4. electra back working.

so, you can install 4.1.2 but not the 4.1.3? It hangs at that point before the progress bar should be moving?

Correct. 4.1.2 no problem: progress bar moves along. 4.1.3 problem: progress bar does not advance.

EDIT: Problem solved after updating to bootloader to v1.1.

Thanks so much for the update. I immediately recognized some of the improvements like…

> [@martin](#):
>
> _Mini_ Improved the visual style of all control types. Added value to the dials.

The value now helps a lot. I tried switching from the “Default” to the “Dial” option. However, the graphical display of the value in the outer ring still doesn’t work with reduced value ranges. I hope this will be added. 😉

Hi @martin, either the new editor or FW 4.1.3 is breaking one of my presets. The preset includes some Lua code to change some control display names, plus some custom graphics (based on Fader E1 by @Abbes). None of that functionality shows on the E1 if I re-upload the preset via the editor, even if I make no actual edits.

Are these the same instructions for Windows? When I start in USB Disk Mode I can’t access the drive to put the file in the boot folder, my computer wants me to format the drive.

What version of windows do you have?

Yes, the bootloader is the same for all operating systems.
