Hey all. New member here, with their first question. I need a controller to use in mostly in live play situation (as opposed to studio/recording). I am considering the Electra Mini. I use primarily Drambo on my iPad and at least one Elektron box. My primary goal is to have easy access to tweakable parameters during a live show. Obviously I am still in the digital realm but I want a controller that needs minimal computer tethering for interfacing / setting up with my gear, using the iPad is fine. Where does the Mini rest in the spectrum of needing an actual computer to make use it’s features?
Take a look here: Quick Start guide | Electra One Documentation . You need Chrome or Edge to use the web app to create, edit, and upload controller presets for the E1. But once you have done that you don’t need any PC connection unless you are controlling DAW/plugins on a PC. The E1 is powered via its USB B device port so you need some external power source. I use a portable battery if I am not connected to a computer. Sounds like you are primarily using an iPad. I’m sure there are plenty of users who do that.
important to mention: chrome and edge support MIDI only on the computer. It will not work on an ipad. That means a computer is needed to create presets.
Sounds fairly highly computer dependent.
To set up the preset - yes. To use the controller live - certainly not.
Fyi Webmidi in chromium IS supported on android and it MIGHT be at some point in the future on ios as well (once there are other engines besides WebKit allowed), but this might also only be the case in the EU ![]()
