# Yamaha FX900 OS chip search

Hey gang… was working on a E1 prest with Claude CODE on this effects unit when it fried my OS.

I opened the unit and pulled the OS chip and when rebooting the hardware noticed more on the screen then the frozen state with the OS chip in place… leading me to the conclusion that I need a new OS chip. I did try at first the key combo power up’s to refresh the system but that didn’t work

Any chance someone out there has one of these units and can copy the OS? Alternately if you know where I might download the ROM contents I can try and burn my own - or I’d buy a new one if there’s a place selling chip copies.

popped the OS IC and reset it… I am back in business. I may have reached the same goal popping the battery and clearing whatever had locked up this unit. The original battery has been replaced with a button CR battery.
