I just wanted to bring to your attention a new preset I made which amounts to a generative midi sequencer based off:
SDKC Instruments Helical
Noise Engineering Zularic Repetitor
with some extra features and ideas. There are 4 modes of sequence generation. The 1st (AutoRegressive) is inspired by the Helical and the third (Groove) is inspired by the Zularic Repetitor. Play with GRAVITY, CONTOUR, SPREAD, HELICITY, RESTS and PHRASE. Pick out of many interesting scales and add notes on the fly as a performance tool. Create custom 8-step rythmic patters in the CUSTOM mode.
Nice ! I’ve not gone in full lengths yet of what it can do.
But 2 remarks:
the CHAN is off 1 . I needed to put it to 7 to transmit on MIDI channel 6.
the timing seems to get disturbed by aftertouch MIDI, even of the aftertouch messages are for a different channel than the one the preset is using. Can you reproduce that?
Will check. I have been using omni, but will check.
Not sure what you mean, you have some keyboard connected to Electra One?
Overall, the clock is indeed sometimes unstable when some parameters are changed. I have not yet figured out how to properly identify this but keep testing.
The way I use it for now is as a standalone sequencer into my DAW.
Data from my keyboard is indeed sent to the E1, because some of my presets react to its (I use data such as velocity, aftertouch, note number as input for modulation via the E1, especially handy for synth that do not offer such modulation on their own).
In this aftertouch data for another synth was being intercepted by the E1.
I haven’t checked lua, but my guess is the internal clock function in the E1 is perhaps not used to determine the moments to trigger a note? That could explain why, if external data is being received, it may slow down the processing speed
Thanks for the feedback. Indeed, I have not made a thorough test so I do expect it to be funky in many aspects. I recommend that for now you use it as I explain in the description, something that generates a sequence similar to SDKC Helical.
I think my main focus will be to make it polyphonic afterwards for chords and potentially with the option that each note can be sent to a different midi channel. In addition I want to implement also an Elektron style sequencer but I fea this will be much tougher.
