Hi, I’m making a Roland TB-3 preset. I’ve got info on the unofficial SysEx for Firmware 1.1. However, if someone has the experience with using one of the existing editors for this Bass Synth, and got a feel for some of the more weird knobs what they actually seem to do or how they interact (like the Tune, Offset, Ring Mod, Cross Mod, certain FX parameters), let me know !
Great, would love to use this preset with my TB-3.
I’m sure you’ve seen this: Unofficial TB-3 MIDI Implimentation
Yep, also the work from Dope Robot and his ctrlr editor, which comes in handy to use for verification on typo errors.
A quirk is that there the three wave shapes can be tuned … 23 semitones up. Why not 24 is an enigma.
The E-1 will be handy though to hide controls when they don’t make sense. The chosen parameters by Roland are rather ‘industrial’, not really end user friendly.
But that’s part of the charm. Eurorack-like with presets…
Far from complete yet, not all FX’s are there, it’s just controlling without parsing currently.
But it might amuse you already

I’ll have to wait till you make it public.
Cheers,
Joris
Using the E1, we can make the TB-3 velocity and aftertouch sensitive and control up to 7 parameters, of which 4 can be freely chosen. I’m adding a TB-3 mod matrix for that purpose. Nice!
The first version is now ready and published
Roland TB-3 preset V1 Electra One App
NewIgnis
New in V1
- all of it
- the patch save function is not yet functional
- patch parsing is not implemented yet
Used MIDI settings in the TB-3
- MIDI channel = 2
Highlights / attention points
- The purple and blue controls are not part of the TB-3’s patch settings.
- Pages Main and Modulation are the sound parameters, there are purple pads to move to other pages. The Goto FX pad will bring you to the parameters of the FX you selected.
- Several controls may hide parameters, when they are not applicable
- Performance Page has the program change buttons on the last line. You cannot select the 15 user patches though.
- The Pad Assign page contains a mod matrix, not found on the original TB-3, allowing you to select up to 8 mod sources, including velocity and aftertouch, to 7 destinations, each of them corresponding to one of the 7 CC destinations the TB-3 responds to.
