Controlling the Boss SY 1000 using Sysex

I’m totally new to the forum, so lots of gaps in my knowledge here, but essentially I was considering getting an E1 mini to control the parameters on my BOSS SY 1000, and need to use sysex messages to overcome the limitation of 16 midi cc asaigns, and was wondering if I could map the SY 1000 using the midi learn function within the E1 controllers? Thanks in advance for any information.

HI, welcome here.

I looked at the sysex info for SY 1000. From what I seen, I’d say that the parameter changes can be MIDI learned, capturing the Sysex string. Because SY 1000 uses two bytes to transmit the value, you will need to help E1 to understand how to compose the parameter value out of those two bytes. It is not difficult - merely a mouse clicking in the editor.

Hi Martin, thanks so much for looking into this and great news! This would be amazing, I would still need a bit of guidance but what agreat solution.

Is it still possible to preorder the E1 mini? And if so when do you think it might be available?

Hi Mauro, the pre-order page is available on our website.

The current status is that we are waiting for the IO boards (PCBs with pots, buttons and connectors) to arrive. We believe we are still on time and the shipping will start before end of the November.

The beauty of this forum is that there is usually somebody to help.
