A new beta version of the plug-in is out, I don’t have it because I’m still demoing it and the new version is available only to the people that have already bought the plug-in, but in the change log is clearly stated that is now controllable with control change; What I’m now wondering is: Is it possible to have the preset transmit simultaneously system exclusive (for the hardware) and Control Change (for the plug-in), so a single preset could be used to control both the hardware and the plug-in?
The plugin was always controllable with midi control changes, if you used the CC mapping feature in your DAW. The new feature in the beta is MIDI CC mapping within the plugin itself. This is for people that use multiple DAW’s and dislike having mappings tied to one particular DAW.
You’re right but this new feature makes it possible to have a preset that will work with whatever DAW you’re using as long as the plug-in allows you to save a mapping file that can be shared together with the preset
That aspect had not occurred to me. A big time-saver.
Hi! I found this rather old thread, and was wondering if anyone is using the Microwave preset mentioned here, the one with version 0.96? I’m on the fence for an Electra One mk2 and look forward to accessing my Microwave hardware in a new way with this…
I use it. What is it that you need to know?
Hi! I was just curious to know how it works, if there are any quirks. Do you miss any function in it or is it simply just working to access all the parameters of the hardware that are relevant?
As an editor, it works great. All the controls are covered, it even has a graphical editor for the 8 stage envelope where each break point can be dragged by finger on the E1 screen. It can sync with Microwave edit buffer so that all the controls on each page show the correct values before you start tweaking.
I cannot import the patch names for the whole bank, and not sure how to get program changes sent, but these are small issues. It will pull the current patch name in the edit buffer when the sync button is pressed. And it is easy to send program changes from the DAW or just use the Microwave front panel to change preset.
The snapshots function of the E1 for storing patches does not work. I have never had it work reliably with any preset, not just this Microwave one. So for a Microwave librarian to use alongside the E1 I highly recommend the free F0F7 - LASER Mammoth F0F7 web app.
If you set up three-way bi-directional MIDI routing between the Microwave, E1, and F0F7, you can do stuff like select presets from different soundsets on F0F7, and both the Microwave and E1 controls will sync up. Any sounds you make using the E1 can be stored in custom banks on F0F7 with no limits. When you press the E1 ‘patch request’ button (top button of the right-hand group of three), the E1 requests the patch, and it automatically gets added to the to the F0F7 ‘Masterboard’. (working scratchpad bank).
