Bulk import for captures

I would love to make more use of E1 as a sysex librarian for my older synths. I have thousands of patches on my computer, but recording them into the E1 is no fun at all, and then there’s naming them.

Any chance we will get access to captures and bulk importing from the web app at some point? Or an option on the Captures screen to import from an SD folder?

I do feel that the “controller part” of the Electra One project is getting close to the point where I wanted to have it when the project was initially launched. The Snapshots - it is something can be seen as an extra feature on top of the controller part - got some attention when working on the firmware version 4.x. There is still work to be done on the web editor (snapshot management) but I am quite happy with the Snapshots in general. By reaching that point I decided to introduce the captures.

The current implementation of Captures is, on the other hand, the very first step I took in that direction. They can store one sysex message only now. The format that is used is a standard MIDI file format. What I am planning to work on in the near future is:

  1. allow more complex midi files to be used as captures
  2. add support for other Midi messages than the sysex
  3. allow to trigger and “play” the captured data according to their timing information (ie. record a sweep, sequence of notes, or send sysex messages in timed manner)
  4. export and import captures (read midi files) so that they can be edited in an external editor
  5. last but not least, Electra will continuously keep track of all midi events processed (state of the ParameterMap) along with the time information with an option to save it as a capture.

In long term I am considering that there could be some support for on-controller patch bank management and parsing. But this is really in the realm of ideas.

I can really recommend knobkraft for this. Using it for 8 synths currently.

@martin (bulk) import from knobkraft would be cool for performances etc

Thanks Markus, knobcraft looks pretty sweet.
