Can't upgrade to 4.0 from 3.6.1 (freezes on update)

My mk2 is acting weird, but I don’t know if it’s hardware or software related.

I have to plug the USB cable dozens of time for it to boot into 3.6.1 or to show the bootloader (if I hold the bottom-right button). It doesn’t matter into what power source it is plugged in.

Once I’m in the bootloader menu, I see firmware 4.0.0, but if I tap on it, there is a 1 pixel progress and the device freezes.

What’s the solution?

Looks like it was simply the SD card which got corrupted. After a reformat and a clean 4.0 SD card extraction, it booted again.

How do I restore the presets from a backup of the previous SD card?

if you restore the original files (3.6.1 I guess) on the fresh-formatted SD card and you boot to v4.0, it should pick all the files and convert them to 4.0 storage format.

Thank you Martin!

Card died again, so I’ll try with another one, once I can get a hold of a small card. Everything I have left is exFAT.

So, good news, after creating an 8GB partition, I got the E1 to recognise it and it can boot every time. I was also able to retrieve all the presets!

BUT

The USB disk feature still doesn’t work for me. Please let me know if it’s still not supposed to work with 4.0 and BL 1.1.

With bootloader 1.1, you can update the firmware directly from the website. I saw another message from you in a different thread, and it looked like you had already used the online update. Am I right?

Aaah, I thought 1.1 would allow the device to be recognised by Windows 11, but it’s even better if we don’t need to use the USB disk method any more. It’s true that it worked flawlessly when upgrading the BL, so I’m expecting the same for the OS. Really nice to have this available

pls give it a try with the 4.0.2 beta if you can: Help needed with the v4.0.2 update

Done
