Disk mode and web based updates failing from 4.0.0 on mkII with Bootloader 1.0 [Solved]

My device keeps locking up when I try to update to the latest firmware using any method (web or disk). The attempted bootloader upgrade also hangs. I can revert back to 4.0.0 each time using the button hold power on method. Is there some known issue that wasn’t documented? I was going to attempt to upgrade to the next release after 4.0.0 but didn’t see a download link for it.

I’m on an early mkII with bootload 1.0.

Thanks!

Hi, just to make sure I understand the situation:

  1. you successfully updated to the v4.0.0 in the past
  2. your bootloader is not upgraded, ie. it is v1.0
  3. you can open the bootloader (screen with blue tiles)

is that correct?

if so, open the bootloader and enable the disk mode by tapping the [enable USB Disk] on-screen button. When the ELECTRA disk will appear on your computer, remove all files in the boot folder.

Then try to update the booloader manually. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Download this file: blupdate.srec.zip (277.1 KB)
  2. Unzip it
  3. Copy blupdate.srec to the boot folder on the ELECTRA disk
  4. Eject the ELECTRA disk
  5. Restart the controller

If everything goes ok, the version of the bootloader - shown at the right-top corner of the bootloader screen should read “v1.1”. If it does, try to run the online update of the firmware from the web app. If now, let me know.

The bootloader you provided worked and I was able to successfully upgrade to the latest firmware. Thank you!

For anyone else that experiences this issue: I didn’t save a copy of the previously downloaded 1.1 bootloader to diff with the one provided so I don’t know if this issue was resolved by a different bootloader or simply deleting everything from my boot folder and starting the bootloader upgrade from scratch outside of the web based updater. I assume this is a different bootloader or my previous download from the web based installer was corrupt.
