I messed up my bootloader

I don’t even remember what I did. I think I tried to use the new firmware through the new method without updating the bootloader first. My device works and I can consistently restart it and get into usb mode. But I cannot open any folders or move any files over to the device without an I/O error. Is there a way to fully wipe the device and flash firmware with the usb port or something?

I would suspect the SD card being the root cause of the problems.

The bootloader sits in the flash address space that can be touched only when updating the bootloader. If the controller is not starting up but you are able to open the bootloader it almost always means that the firmware is unable to use the SD card. The fact that you have issues with accessing the SD card from the bootloader supports that too.

If you have the controller with the SD card slot on the side, remove the card and follow the instructions at: A broken SD card | Electra One Documentation

If it did not help, it is possible to fully restore the flash image on the controller over the USB using Renesas (processor manufacturer) tools. It requires Windows or Linux computer though. I will provide instructions if needed. Pls start with the SD card first.

Ok I’ve taken the time to read through all of the possible issues in the documentation. I was on Windows 11, so I think my problem was the bootloader 1.0 not connecting properly. I purchased a new card, replaced the image, nothing worked. I used my mac laptop to manually update to 4.0 and 4.1.4. My issue is stil the bootloader. For one thing, If I cannot connect to a windows 11 computer, and macs have only usbc, it’s hard not to use a usb hub to update the firmware/bootloader according to the documentation, but let’s say that is only a risk or something. Nothing I do can get the bootloader update page to work. It says log in and plug in, no matter how many times I log in and add my controller to the system, multiple browsers, Mac and Windows, I just cant get to how to update the bootloader so I can then use my windows machine to update my device through the browser

Hi, please send me a PM message about your availability on the chat. I would review that together with you to understand the issue better and to help you with that. Thanks!
