Electra One Availability

Howdy all,

Anyone know an approximate ETA on the next batch of Electra Ones?

Cheers!

Hi, we ran out of stock shortly before the holidays due to an unexpected increase in sales. The controllers should be available in the second half of January.

That’s great news! Thanks, Martin.

will there be an email update when units are available, or is there a list we can add our info to?

launching Mini has been intense. All controllers pre-ordered in the first batch are shipped out now. Zdenek and I will now focus on the web editor and the firmware to make sure that existing users are happy with the controller.

At this moment, we do not plan to take pre-orders/orders on Mini before the mid March. The OG mk2 will not be available before mid-2026. Many new hardware ideas were successfully validated on the Mini hardware. We would like to apply them to mk2 (UI speed, new potentiometers, …). That may result in mk3…

There is a form to subscribe to the mailing list on the https://electra..one/ website. We try not to spam people with marketing non-sense there, but info on availability and new product announcements are shared there.

Thanks for the response, very excited about this device, it looks perfect for my needs. The mini looks quite impressive as well, looking forward to getting a hold of one (or an updated fullsize unit mid year)!

We will start shipping the 2nd batch of Minis on Monday, March 9th. We expect to have all units out before the end of March as planned.

After the 2nd batch is sold out, there will be the 3rd batch some time in second half of 2026. That will be most likely the final batch for this year. I do not want to overwhelm ourselves and the forum with tons of new users.

For those who are waiting for the full size E1 - the mk2 will be replaced with the mk3, the design files were sent out to our manufacturing partners. We expect it to be available for sale in Q3 2026. We might open pre-orders if there is demand. We plan max one batch of 200 units in 2026.

A quick overview of the “accepted” features:

  • identical overall physical dimensions as the mk1/mk2
  • larger distances between the pots.
  • identical MIDI IO connectivity
  • 8" touchscreen running at 100Hz or higher - major upgrade to current 7" at 25Hz
  • resolution 1280x800 - extra room on the screen will be used for easier navigation, direct page changes, the preset grid identical to mk1/mk2. The goal is to eliminate the swiping.
  • pots with the switches (identical to those used on the Mini, we love them)
  • major upgrade of the CPU (from single core Renesas S7G2 at 240Mhz, to dual core RA8D2 at 1 GHz, with one core dedicated to extra low-latency MIDI processing, routing, and input rearing. The other processing UI, graphics, and Lua. Memory upgraded from 32+16MB to 64MB. Much faster graphics, anti-aliased and scale-able fonts, gradients are expected.
  • mechanical power switch
  • added opto-isolated SPI bus to connect additional peripherals and control surfaces. Magnetic pogo pins on the side of the enclosure. Users will have have access to the SPI bus from the Lua and using the parameterMap.
  • mk3 will run the same firmware as mk2 and Mini and presets will stay fully compatible.
  • since mk3 has a new enclosure, IO board, and the mainboard - upgrade kits cannot be provided.
  • real-wood back panel.

We will do our best to keep the price the same.

Note for the mk1 users - with the mk2/mini/editor changes more/less settled now, I have begun working on the final mk1 firmware update.

mk2 upgrade kits - we maintain a small stock of mk2 upgrade kits, but we stop selling them as of today - March 2nd, 2026. We will use them for servicing and emergencies only.

I understand that progress needs to me made but am a bit sad that my original mk1 now upgraded to mk2 cannot be upgraded further…

It’s not like the Mk II (or I) becomes useless.

Not every preset needs the most current hardware. I have presets i use that happily run on a mk I and more advanced hardware wouldn’t make them run better/faster.

do not worry @eusti. Think of it as the mk3 running the mk2 in a window on its larger screen. preset and Lua-wise, there is no difference.

The development of the Mini took quite a long time. The main reason was that I did not want to introduce yet another separate firmware dedicated to new hardware, as I did with the mk1 in the past. The whole idea behind the lengthy work on firmware version 4.x and the editor was to make it possible to introduce updated hardware in the future while keeping a single unified firmware.

For example, recent firmware releases were mostly aimed at and motivated by feedback from Mini users, but the features and fixes were delivered to mk2 users as well. The mk3 will follow the same approach.

Regarding the upgrade: I really wanted to apply the lessons learned from the Mini. There were three key points:

  1. Faster connectivity between the CPU and the display (the mk2 has the CPU on the mainboard and the GPU on the display board; the Mini has them on one board; the mk3 will use a single silicon solution).
  2. Increased distance between the knobs and the use of pots with integrated switches.
  3. A larger and more responsive display.

These three changes mean that the only part that can be reused is the knob caps :frowning: In the same time, leaving any of the three points out would really be a missed opportunity to improve it.
