Has Electra always been like this?

If I use an option list with on and off, if you turn the knob clockwise you can go from 0 to 127 and if you continue 0,127,0,127… and so on. Has Electra always worked like that? I don’t like it at all. If I want the last value, 127 in this case, I have to be careful not to turn it back to 0. It would be better if there was a setting like, value loop on/off so that all opportunities are available for those who actually like it.

It’s a recent firmware change, I don’t like it either

Count me in to the not-likers…

I liked the idea of unifying the behavior of both variants of lists, but I’m not really attached to it. I’ll revert the plain list to how it worked prior to version 4.0.

Perhaps it could be a user configurable option?

I thought I would like this feature. But I don’t. If I am looking at my synths while turning the knob for a list control I inevitably scroll past the last item back to beginning, which, depending on the parameter can lead to some dramatic sonic jumps. I vote for it being a configurable option.

I find it very useful for some things but not the volume knob…

me too, I find it annoying for selections such as analog waveforms, or for octave settings, you don’t want the sound to suddenly jumps 5 octaves because of not being careful.

In some cases it is good to have a round robin though, but that is more when sound designing, not when playing.

So an option on it would be nice, but the default (and compatibility) setting should be the old behaviour

just a thought: when the option list is in a pad style (so you don’t see where you are in the option list), the round robin feature could be the default.

when the option list is shown as a list though (with the dots showing the amount of options from left to right) it the list should stop at both ends when turning the knobs.

Does that make sense to any one else?

Personally, I try not to use the list format control. Turning an encoder feels very clunky with the list format. Maybe the feel had improved recently, so next time I’m working on a template I’ll try that.

In general I don’t need the wraparound. The double click to go to the default value can be useful if you need a big/quick jump.

yes, it used to be like that prior to 4.0. I unified the behaviour but I am going to revert that change. ie. standard list will not be recycled while the pad style will recycle. I will also add info about that to the docs.
