anywhere I can find more in depth info about the routing options available on the configuration page for the controller?
Please wait a little bit, we are re-designing that page to make it more matrix-like type of configuration.

Any updates? Do I need an external merger to go from midi in b to a (or a to b)?
the upcoming v3.7 firmware will allow flexible routes between any input and output. Controller firmware part of the work is completed. The web editor still needs doing. For those who are ok with getting their hands dirty with editing the JSON config, it will be available rather soon.
