Routing with mioXL (Solved)

But Martins tutorial (the link above) also describes to connection to the web app through mioXL…

Then I am wrong about that, sorry. For some reason, I thought the Mio ports were good for MIDI only.

I am using Mio XL (and XM) for the connection between the web editor and the controller just fine. Can you provide a little bit more info? eg. the screenshot of the routing screen would be handy. Thanks

Hi, here are some screenshots. I use Google Chrome Version 139.0.7258.139 on the newest macOS.

ohh, sorry, I meant a screenshot of the Auracle software where you have your MioXL routes defined.

Replying to this post just to say thanks, Martin! This helped me get my Electra. One at least partially integrated into my Mac/mioXL setup. Great breakdown of the basic connectivity/routing configurations.

I am trying to use the Blofeld preset, and having issues with the MioXL. I have tried two approaches:

  • connect Electra to Mac USB port. On the Mio, route DAW HST 1 to Blofeld DIN and vice-versa. Then I used Mididash app on Mac to connect the Electra USB port 1 to DAW HST 1, and vice versa. This works fine.
  • cut the Mac out of the picture. Connect Electra to Mio USB port. Route Mio USB port to Blofeld DIN and vice versa. This is not working. I can send changes from the Electra to the Blofeld, but the feature which uses a Lua script to retrieve the Blofeld patch settings is not working. I.e. it seems Electra->Blofeld works but Blofeld->Electra does not.

Anyone have any suggestions of what I can try?

which preset are you using, and which blofeld and how are they pysically connected to one another? If it’s mine (New Ignis) I’ve designed it for a Blofeld Desktop. A desktop has no DIN MIDI Out so communication between E1 and Blofeld was made as follows: E1 interfaces via DIN MIDI In and Out with a MioXL and Blofeld interchanges via USB with the same MioXL. That way I have my Electra One connected via USB to the Electra editor on the PC, but the MIDI route is via the MioXL between E1 and Blofeld, and not passing through the PC.

Lol, I woke up at 2:30am when my brain realized “duh, its because there is no DIN out on the Blofeld”! I had forgotten that; my Blofeld is pretty tucked away thanks to its small size. So yes, that is the simple explanation. I can’t eliminate the Mac. I generally connect USB MIDI to a hub on Mac, and DIN MIDI to MioXL, as for a lot of devices that have editors that do non-standard things or look for specific port names that’s the only way to still be able to use the editors.
