Hi all!
Just got my Electra one mk2 and buckling up for quite the learning curve. My first challenge is incorporated rating it into my setup.
That would be a number of synths (Kronos 2, iridium core, virus ti2 and 3rd wave groove synthesis, tr6s) all connected to a blokas midihub, which I sequence via my oxi one.
Just from a setup perspective… where does this fit in?
Hi, welcome here!
You have several options. First, you should decide whether or not you are going to use midihub. You could set things up even without it. But given you have one, it totally makes sense to use it.
If I were you I would consider the following setup:
- connect all synths and Oxi to your midihub. As you have more than 4 MIDI devices, you will need to daisy chain some of them.
- configure channels on all synths and Oxi (tracks)
- configure midihub so that it routes messages from Oxi to the synths.
- connect midihub to Electra One USB host port.
- configure midihub so that Electra messages (USB) are forwarded to all connected synths and possibly to Oxi if needed (MIDI IO DINs)
This way, midihub does the routing and messages from Electra presets will be merged in it. The latency will be given by the latency of the midihub.
You could also connect Oxi to Electra USB host, but then the routing logic would spread over two devices (Electra and midihub) as well as the latency of MIDI messages sent from Oxi to any of the synths would be combined - latency of Electra routing + latency of midihub routing.
I will be away from the computer most of the day today and a good part of tomorrow. Let me know if the description above is unclear to you. If it was, would add a diagram and more info here later when I am available. Cheers.
