Hello everyone, I hope you’re all doing well. I just want to express my appreciation and say that I’m genuinely looking forward to more tutorials that can help unlock the full potential of this outstanding MIDI controller. One area in particular that initially caused me some difficulty was working with presets that were too large (Behringer Deepmind 12).
The existing tutorial, How to Use Electra One with iConnectivity Routers, completely transformed my workflow and approach. It gave me renewed inspiration to continue creating custom presets for all my synthesizers and effects units.
Nice. I have to say, one of the reasons I have not been able to fully take advantage of my Electra One is the complete lack of tutorials. I am not sure if this will be improved in the future. And often, while people reply to questions, the replies often come with an assumed overhead that either one is comfortable with LUA or detailed midi protocol understanding. Some of us don’t have time to dive deep into those.
That being said, the Electra One team is amazing and extremely helpful. Still, I hope they make video tutorials like many other companies out there.
Hi, I have spent almost whole month offline partly hiking in northern lapland and putting bits of the book about MIDI, Lua, and Electra together. Good progress has been done and I am hoping to make it available before the end of summer holidays. I know things go slow but I am trying to do my best.
As the firmware (for mk2) almost reached the full feature set of what I have ever planned, my focus for the rest of the year will be on the tutorials, making presets, making the final update of the mk1, and getting the first batch of E1 mini out.
Tutorials, especially video tutorials, can be game changer. One of the reasons being that many hobbyists don’t necessarily have the luxury of the time. I, for example, except for my job have to take care also a 9 month old so the 2h I am left each evening I rather play than try to learn LUA and debug!
Thanks for sharing the update. I really value the transparency.
I’m learning how to program the device by looking at your published preset and the presets of others. I think any youtube Lua tutorial plus the Lua Extension information is going to be enough for me to do more.
While on the subject of tutorials, I’d like to suggest one of the best examples I’ve seen when it comes to good manual design and comprehensive tutorials: the good people at Squarp.
I’ve got a Hapax and not only is their online interactive manual a great example of design (and it’s available as pdf too), but their youtube tutorials are top notch: 10 minutes or less, logically broken down into sections/processes, well filmed and where text is necessary, it’s written instead of spoken. If you’re looking for inspiration when it comes to the maual’s design, I’d definitely have a look.
