I have the desktop myself. In my set-up all synths with USB are connected to midi patch bays that convert / split and merge those signals to a.o. to 2 DIN MIDI plugs which are connected to port 1 of the E1.
I think you have two options:
If you have a MIDI convertor between DIN MIDI and USB MIDI try out this one (DIN MIDI On port 1 at the E1, USB only on the Blofeld)
if you want to connect directly with USB into the E1’s USB host port, remove that DIN MIDI cable from your Blofeld (USB is already bidirectional), and ensure you have set the USB host configuration on the E1 to assign the Blofeld to Port 1.
EDIT: I just tested out this last option, and the preset is working as well in that setup
Thanks for the response! I just tested this out using just the USB MIDI to E1’s USB host port. All appears to be working, including the patch request functionality. Thank you! I think my Blofeld is going to be getting a lot more attention now with all the hands on control!
Thanks for the preset, it works for me in principle but unfortunately I am running into issues when trying patch request. The parameters on the preset appear to change according to the active patch on the Blofeld. At the same time, the preset becomes unresponsive, no interaction via touch screen or encoders is possible. It basically freezes the E1, the right side buttons still work, but I cannot interact with any E1 controls anymore. Likewise, the E1 cannot be accessed Web Editor. The only way out is resetting the E1.
I get this behaviour with E1 Mk2 using both firmware 3.4 and 3.5.
The blofeld is connected via USB using Port 1.
Do I have to change something within the preset to get it working on E1 Mk2?
I tested it with Blofeld (running firmware 1.25). Everything seems to work perfectly, patch request picks changes and controller works fine. I tried to combine it with MIDI clock and MIDI data running via the controller in the same time. Without problems too.
What version of firmware do you have on Blofeld? The info is shown on the startup screen.
I have a Waldorf Blofeld, (connecting to a USB laptop and working in a Windows editor works without any problems.)
When I connect the Blofeld to my Electra One, it does not appear to be under port 1 or port 2,
(manual: Synth on the USB host | Electra One Documentation)
If I follow the same procedure with my Waldorf Pulse, does it work?
Could it be that there is a problem with the last firmware upgrade I performed on my Electra One (latest version)?
Thanks in advance, could anyone please test if this is also the case with them?
Or if there is a solution available, (I bought the Electra One specifically for my Blofeld synth.)
Hello, thanks for the quick reply, I’m going to try this out (I did have the SL license Blofeld License SL – Waldorf Music a while ago) and then I haven’t tested it anymore. with the Electra One.
It’s strange that it works for you.
I’ll just check here with older firmware on my Electra one and I’ll give you a heads up, update.
Hopefully I can solve this, (I have already tried everything, (and the same connections with my Waldorf Pulse work immediately. The connection of the Blofeld with the computer (Windows) also works perfectly.) I am going to test this
When I start up my Blofeld, do I notice that the first characters of the number are different?
I don’t know if this could have anything to do with it (see print screen number under Blofeld)
Is anybody working on a preset for the Waldorf M? I was a heavy blofeld user, but since getting the M, I hardly touch the thing. However, maybe that will change with the electra. Always found the amount of menu diving to be too much of a buzzkill despite the incredibly powerful synthesis capabilities of the machine.
I am sorry. I took me much longer. I just tested my Blofeld with mk1 running v3.5.4. It is detected just fine. Tried both available Blofeld presets from the electra.one public library. They work ok.
Hi, my Blofeld version I published was made for the Firmware 2.x versions. Electra One App
I had one in the making for the Firmware 3.x version but never published it.
I can quickly check to improve whereI left off, if perhaps you can guide me where things go wrong, just to speed up the correction process?
