Bricked the Mini after Update [Resolved]

Unfortunately, I can no longer start up after an obviously failed update. I can ‘only’ start USB Disk Mode (hold down the second button from the right when plugging in the USB) and then access the SD card via Mac.

I tried all possible firmware versions in the ‘boot’ directory (I always used the MK2 versions?!?) v4.1.2, v4.1.0, …

I reinstalled the SD image (sd-4.0.zip)

Tried a second SD card with different images

No success :frowning:

Does the newly released Mini need an update on delivery?

Currently no. I received mine this week and the Editor still shows …

Firmware version v4.1.2

Your controller is up to date. You are already running this version of firmware.

No need to update after receiving the unit. @egotape any particular reason why you updated the controller? The sd card image you used is for mk2, including the firmware images. Even though mk2 and mini use the same firmware source code each model needs its own .srec file.

use

firmware-mini-4.1.2.srec.zip (2.2 MB), unzip it, rename the file to update.srec, place it in the boot/ folder on the SD card and restart the controller. The update should automatically start when the controller boots up.

Obviously my mistake. I read and pressed ‘try our new online firmware update.

It started right away without any message saying ‘Hey, you’re up to date’.

But the Firmware and rename tip helped, it’s recovered or solved!

THANK you so much!

I think I read 1.0 on the left (hardware revision) and 1.1 on the right (bootloader version) and simply pressed the button too quickly, and then there was no way back…
