I just got my Electra One and I’m trying to figure how can I control all my midi devices in the studio with it. I’ve got a couple of devices connected to my macbook via USB and the E1 via USB Host port.
I tried connecting E1 Port 1 OUT to my Tempera device (connected to my macbook via usb) via the MIDI Studio app and then I created a simple preset on the E1 to change a parameter on my Tempera, I verified that the midi channels are correct and that the CC value is as well. Unfortunately, the Tempera doesn’t receive it.
Is this something that isn’t possible with the E1? Controlling devices via a computer?
@markus.schloesser would you be willing to share a little bit more info about how you did that? I tried what @rkrd is trying to set up in the past too. I connected the ports in the MIDI Studio but I never got the MIDI messages actually routed/forwarded, and did not find good info about how to do that or if it is even meant to be used like that.
Sorry, I should have been more specific, I’m on Windows and therefore don’t use midi studio but route midi in Ableton Live. Was referring to the question "Controlling devices via a computer?’
I’ve found this app called MidiPipe which allows routing MIDI IN to different MIDI OUT (USB included). I haven’t tested extensively, but it worked for me.
yep, MidiPipe can do that. As mentioned above, I did not find a way to get it working in the MIDI Studio. I think it is not meant to do the routing. I eventually switched to using hardware MIDI routers (connected to the computer).
