Some questions about the Electra One

Hello everyone,

I’m interested in getting an Electra One, but I have a few questions:

  • I plan to use a midi controller with buttons and faders in tandem with the Electra One, what are the steps involved in mapping an external midi controller to the controls on the Electra One? Is there noticeable added latency?
  • I plan to also use the Ableton Live as a recorder of what’s coming out of the Electra One. Can the Electra one act similar to a mixer with motorized faders where the automation in Ableton Live is read by the Electra One and can be adjusted?
  • how snappy is the Electra One in changing parameters? From the videos that I’ve seen it seems a bit laggy, but I don’t know if that’s just the display refresh rate or otherwise.

Thank you for the help!

  1. Have a look at Ableton Live MIDI Remote Script / Control Surface - #650 by jhh
  2. Midi itself is snappy, UI depends, but I am happy with it

If the external controller sends a MIDI messages that are identical with messages configured in the preset, there is zero configuration, Electra will simply reflect all activity done on the external controller. Things are set up so that the E1 will first forward the messages to their destinations and then update the screen. Still, there is no noticeable delay in that even for the screen updates.
