CC values jumps up during rotating the knob for lower values

Hi!

Turning a knob to the left sometimes increases values.

I have the latest firmware on my E1 mk2.

Here is a video about the issue: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HuQnCs0DpHAjP8l2ylt3wrBXK1W2gxsz/view?usp=drive_link

Thank you

The gdrive link is private so nobody can access the file.

It sounds like a known issue with the E1. It only reads the pots when the touch sensor has signalled that the knob is touched. From my personal experience, there’s quite a delay in the detection and depending on your environment (esp. temperature) the touch sensor can even hallucinate touches.

This means that if you touch and twist the pot too quickly before the touch sensor has signalled a knob to be touched, the acceleration code will generate extreme value changes.

I noticed that this is not so obvious with 7bit CCs and mostly affects 14bit CCs.

Hi!

I unlocked the drive, sorry.

I am using E1 for simple things, to control only with midi messages, no lua or any other programing, not even one CC with 14bit resolution in my presets. Sometimes during slow knob rotation the value of the CC does not change at all.

Cheers!

is it happening only with particular knob or any of them?

I know you are about to sell your E1, but still, you can try to use the latest beta firmware
firmware-v3.7.0f.srec.zip (1.6 MB). Knob readings are improved in v3.7 to prevent issues like that. If you needed any assistance, please contact me on PM.

Hi Martin!

The selling thing is not because I do not like your product…it is the best controller that I ever had … the jumping thing is there from the beginning, but only now I put it on the forum…I’ll try the new beta firmware. Thank you! I

are you sure you do not have a loop, where the change the E1 sends to the device is in turn sent back tfrom that device into the E1?
This leads to very erratic behaviour, where sometimes a parameter seem to be stuck (the looped message keeps the parameter in a stuck place), or suddenly makes giant jumps.

There is a loop now between the E1 and the Midas mr18, to have feedback about the changes that I make from TouchOSC on my pc, but I used it without feeding back the midi in E1 for several months, and there were present these CC jumps.+

Hmm. It was the getting stuck part that made me think that. Will think on potential causes a bit more
