I’ve noticed parameter values on my MK2 jumping discontinuously sometimes. I recall this problem from my MK1 as well, so I don’t think it’s hardware related - it didn’t bother me so much, but now it feels quite disruptive. I don’t know if the problem has gotten worse, or I simply didn’t notice it before. Its easy to reproduce using this preset: https://app.electra.one/preset/Tbp0NIhhwxqrFKyAgdaH
Alternatingly turn each of the three controls slowly. Eventually (~one out of ten times, it shouldn’t take more than a minute or two to see the problem), I see a parameter value jump discontinuously - it’s a little hard to see, but it appears the jump tends to be to the highest or lowest value. The jump occurs on the FIRST change registered when you touch a new knob (e.g. turn A then I turn B, the first step of B will be a big jump, the next steps will be continuous). I can reproduce this with no MIDI-related software running, so I think it’s purely a device problem. I seem to see it on all three of the controls, so it’s not obviously related to e.g. the value range.
I’m on the latest firmware, but I’ve seen it on older versions dating back at least ~8 months.
I do wonder whether it’s related to the value range? By default I always have my value range as e.g. 0..16383 for unipolar controls, because I’m using formatters for display and it makes sense to max out the available range. But, I cut this in half (e.g. 0..8191) and the problem seems to have either gone away or gotten much better?
FWIW, this seems to be resolved by firmware v3.5.4. I’ll test some less artificial scenarios with more complex sets of controls and report if I see anything.
I did still see one or two tiny glitches when I was turning fast (with 16383 ranged controls) - but it looked like a different issue and in any case I can’t reliably reproduce after 5 or 10 minutes, so I’m not particularly concerned.
