On my E1 Mk2, the value of a parameter regularly jumps in big steps when I touch or turn a knob. This happens a few times a day. Usually the parameter jumps to the minimum or maximum value. I can’t figure out what causes it. So I can’t reproduce this behaviour either. Does anyone have any suggestions on the cause and solution?
I am using firmware 3.6.1, Ableton Live and Windows 11. The E1 is connected via a USB hub with its own power supply and a good cable.
Is it a parameter associated with a specific knob. I mean, is it always the same physical knob? And would it be possible to test it with a simple preset (such as Electra One App) and without Ableton Live running?
This has been happening with my two mkII as well. It happens when I twist the knob too quickly after initially touching it.
It happens due to the knob-touch sensor realising a knob touch too late causing adjustments made before the knob-touch sensor’s reaction to cause a spike in the acceleration calculation.
What usually works is touching the knob for half a second before starting to twist the knob.
I have this everywhere, in my desktop’s USB hubs (multiple, all externally powered), on my MacBook Pro 16 (2021 with M1 Max) with and without power.
Thank you for all the tips. I am not yet seeing a pattern when the jumps occur. Therefore I can’t force them either and thus test possible solutions. So I am going to pay a little closer attention to exactly when it happens. I’ve already improved the power supply. And no jumps since then. I use @jhh’s Ableton Live MIDI Remote Script, by the way. Working without Ableton isn’t really an option for me.
