Mapping plug in controls in a daw

Hi , i haven’t bought the electra one as yet but i’m very keen to do so.

initially i want set up controller for software synths and plugins in a daw and save them as presets. Its that straight forward without scripting at first ? im happy to learn the scripting but just as a start and get going .

is a different present / mapping required per daw? or works across multiple.

Studio one for example i have have initially set up all the available controls on a controller first before assigning anything

i guess if most things have CC numbers it should be straight forward ?

From some digging on here

I guess you have to mapp the elecra to cc of the plug ins without using any daw map.

What about fx , as i guess that would mean setting up the preset on elecra first and also mapping it in the daw ,

Studio one and logic pro x remember setting , so not so bad …but a double up on fx i guess unless they have cc maps

Hello !
I’m in a similar situation. I’m not a coder and use the E1 as a straightforward MIDI controller for VST plugins in Ableton. Let me tell you, using the E1 is a breeze! The editor is very user-friendly and can be used simultaneously to add pads, faders, etc., directly onto the E1, all while staying within the DAW to select which parameter to assign to each CC—thanks to its three independent MIDI ports over USB. I use one to connect the E1 to Ableton, another to the E1 editor, and the third to control external MIDI gear connected via USB to my PC. I’m not even using the MIDI DIN port, but in the upcoming OS version of the E1, it’ll be possible to control parameters on the E1’s screen with an external controller connected directly to the E1’s USB host. I already have a Midi Fighter Twister… It’s going to make the E1 even more powerful!

The E1 is truly an autonomous MIDI controller. No other controller offers such a customizable and user-friendly way to control my VSTs—and I’ve tried many. Plus, if you want to dive into Lua and other deeper functionalities, you can. It’s a beast, and the creator(s) of this controller is (are) a genius! Definitely my best investment for MIDI control."

…And… The comunity is :heart::heart_eyes::star_struck:.
And regarding Ableton , there is an even easier way to control VST thanks to @jhh who make an incredible work on the E1. Ableton Live MIDI Remote Script / Control Surface

It makes me so happy to see people who are so humble, respectful, kind, and incredibly skilled, like you . How can one not feel positive? This project is an amazing advancement in the field of autonomous midi controllers and i use it in it’s basic state :joy: .

Do you have re mapp the controlls in.the daw each time then

Say you save a template for a uad compressor on.the elecra,
Do you have to remap the controlls in.ableton each time you open it or use that plug in ?

Or maybe save plug in.settings to recall in tue daw

I use clyphx .Then no, i don’t have to assign again all the midi mapping on another live set. but Natively Ableton can’t . you have to remap everything per live set . Lot’s of people would love a global midi mapping but Ableton never heard them . If you want Daw that allow to save global midi assignation and then share them in all you template/live set , you will need to use another DAW if you don’t want to make it to complex . Alternatively you can also assign midi parameter directely in the vst. but it depend if the vst can .

can you send a link to that product, @Abbes ?

Logic pro x , studio one and cubase remember any pre mapping for new sessions ,

Shame abelton doesn’t, would be a time saver.

In the case of Ableton Live, you could use my remote script (GitHub - xot/ElectraOne: Ableton Live MIDI Remote Script for the Electra One) that I think does exactly what you want.

yes thats it

there is also an active facebook page .

ClyphX is a powerful tool to customize actions on Ableton in an easy way. It was created in 2010 by Stray, who is a visionary coder and the founder of Nativekontrol. He developed a new version in 2018 from the ground up.

Now, he works for Ableton since 2020, I think. Stray stopped working on ClyphX, but Daren, the guy who made Isotonik and was a partner of Stray before, maintained ClyphX Pro. Stray updated the script when it didn’t work anymore because of incompatibility between new Python versions on Ableton and ClyphX.

Since one month, with Ableton 12.1, ClyphX has been updated again. A new coder joined the team to make ClyphX Pro evolve in future updates, and Stray seems to be getting back to ClyphX too. Then :star_struck::heart:.

This script is insane! It lets users take control of Ableton like a MIDI remote control… but through Ableton clips. For example, if a clip is named" metro"*, it will start the metronome once launched or stopped or,. And that’s just the beginning of this adventure and tons of easy customizations for gigs. it is also possible to control clyphx through midi controller and it is also possible to create custom scripts using clyphx to access Ableton API …

ClyphX also has this powerful function to snap everything in a Live set if you want, making multiple snaps and morphing between all of them manually through an encoder or automatically, quantized or not.

There are so many features! The documentation is on Isotonik Studios if you want to see all the actions that can be made with ClyphX.

  • i was not able to put square brackets in my post. the clip become an Xclip when you put name beginning by a square brackets . in my exemple “square brackets Metro”

I would love that !!

preserving native, VST ,AU plugins midi mapping between ableton live set is a big problem on Ableton . Your solution is a really good one ! Thanks !!

oh i forgot . There is also a maintained Github repo of the first version of clyphx , that was updated until Ableton 12 . not shure it is still working for version 12.1 as Ableton updated the Python working version .
scripts GitHub - ldrolez/clyphx-live11: ClyphX advanced macros and scripting for Ableton Live 12, 11 and 10

oh … and Stray youtube channel explaining clyphx , long time ago https://www.youtube.com/@stray411/videos
