I was going to buy the E1 a bit back but didn’t get to it ,defo will be or mini soon.
I wanted to ask how easy is it to recall presets / mappings via the daw
I mainly use logic pro x and currently with a basic midi controler . if for example, i have uhe diva synth on one track and mapped controls via my controller / logic . When i open diva on that track.. the controler / logic remembers the maps / assessment and its ready to use..instantly
If I switch to another that say as native instruments massive on there ..( if I previously mapped it ) . Its ready to go and the controler is pre assigned …and so on for anything else.
Nothing to do extra mappings wise after its initially set up.
Would this be the same with E1 or E1 mini?
Or do i need to manualuy load a present on.the E1 each time it use a plug in or swith to them in the daw?
Yes, would also be intersted in that. I love the look and feel of the Mini, but missing presets for Ableton. I would like a professional curated preset, not just one that is stiched and half ready. I see the Melburn Instrument Roto-Control, has a pretty good implementation. And it does open the predefined Mappings of VST or any other. It reads it from the name of the device. Sadly I’m only making music casually and don’t have the time to deep dive into programming.
So I’ve had the mini a little while now and that was one of my use cases. I use Cubase but what I found was that you can’t midi map / assign midi CC to VSTs as they’re not hard coded as it were and will just mean you need to remap each time. In Cubase I use midi remote and map the midi to that and then that to the VST. In this way each time I load Cubase I can load up the VSTs I’ve made presets for and use time and again without redoing. It’s a little wonky but worked for what I wanted. If you used two VSTs you’d just have two presets, one for each, but they’re easy to switch between on the Electra, two button presses I think! Bear in mind I’ve not had it for a great deal of time and am limited in how long I can spend making things but as I say, this was my initial attempt, didn’t take more than a few hours all in all, and all worked as intended! Not sure if other DAWs have something similar to Cubase midi remote, or if it’s needed, but thought I’d share.
For such a versitile device as the Mini it should be possible to achieve a tighter integration. Please check out the Ableton Intergration of the Roto Control as discribed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcfVQYjq41s
Where to find it? What does it do? How to implement? I wish there was an officially supported Ableton integration. I want to make music. I feel now, that I have to learn Ableton remote scripting and Lua and all sorts of things. Interesting, but I just don’t have the capacities. Right now I can map parameters to devices manually. Select each preset. But honestly this is too cumbersome if you have a ton of devices. After I mapped 3 devices, I loose intrest and it ends in frustration. My experience.
No, not yet. Technically the latest version of the remote script supports the Mini, but all presets need to be manually translated. And complex devices pose a challenge given the limited page size of the Mini.
